Merry Christmas to you all!

Christmas became popular in China at the end of the 20th century. It is not a traditional Chinese festival. So schools and companies do not have a holiday on this day. But still can't stop many people's enthusiasm for the holiday. Nowadays, the streets, the squares are full of Christmas atmosphere. Many young people celebrate with their friends and partner, especially unmarried ones.

Not only young people in China spend Christmas, but also children. Parents will dress up their homes on Christmas Eve and play the role of Santa Claus, giving gifts to their children. We will also have a meal with our family and say " Merry Christmas " to each other.

One interesting thing is that everyone will give special packages of apples to friends on Christmas Eve. That's because we call Christmas Eve "Ping an ye". Literally means: safety night. And apple in Chinese we say 苹果"Ping guo". It have special name"Ping an guo" in China. This two "ping" have the same pronunciation.  So giving an apple to a friend means wishing the friend peace.
